Background

The master EPIC database is hosted by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC, Lyon, France), which is responsible for the maintenance of lifestyle exposure (including diet) and follow-up data (cancer end-points and vital status). Data were centralized at IARC from the EPIC participating centres. IARC also hosts and maintains the EPIC biorepository. Various IARC scientists are involved in the coordination of research activity. This also includes the leadership of and/or participation in specific Working Groups, as well as participation in projects on diet, biomarkers of diet, other lifestyle and genetic factors, and specific cancer sites.
